You will encounter the Mangled Atoner if you one of several type of players, either an explorer who looks everywhere and seeks to uncover all a map has to offer, a completionist who goes after every possible dialogue option outcome across multiple playthroughs or an unlucky gamer who crosses the wrong bridge.
Head all the way through the DLC to the Palace of the One True King biome then go up the stairs, heading into the first room on the left where you can drop down through the railings and head down to a biome gateway which leads you out to the final section of the Forlorn Coast.
Whichever type of gamer you are, the Mangled Atoner can be a tough fight with the difficulty all being determined by the abilities the Aberration spawns with with certain abilities such as Minions and Cloner giving you a lot of grief where as Displacer and Shocker are very challenging abilities to deal with as well.
For me, it was the first time I experienced the Cloner ability and I must say I wasn’t a fan as the ability gives the Aberration the ability to rip a clone of your build out to fight you minus the weaponry which might sound easy but for me at least my clone packed a hard punch.
If you do get Cloner as an ability, take the clone down quickly then focus fire on the Atoner as the clones won’t stop coming until the Mage is down and they do appear near enough as soon as one has been destroyed.
Add in the Fae and potential Special(s) you will need to deal with as well and it can be a tough time of it especially as the bridge isn’t the widest out there meaning you can easily get back into a wall for some additional punishment.
When the Mangled Atoner puts its shields up, get ready to dodge as it will send it into you which can stagger you leaving you open to more punishment for a time so dodge through the shield which should negate the timing.
Keep your focus on the Aberration for the most part, where, once it’s ben defeated you can then descend through the tower the Atoner was guarding to find a certain Fae Goddess who has been imprisoned by her King for an attempted Assassination.
