A Weapon's Mind
Bronze Image

A WEAPON’S MIND
Listened to the innermost thoughts of a Yokai Weapon

You’ll need a Yokai weapon for this, for example, you can get a rare drop from Ippon-Datara to get the Ippon-Datara Hammer
You’ll know it’s a Yokai weapon as it will have a purple sentience symbol in the weapon’s description.
There are several Yokai weapons throughout Nioh 2, the majority of which you can get through smithing texts
Essentially all you need to do to hear the thoughts of a Yokai weapon is simply use the weapon to take down enemies, keep using your Yokai weapon until your Trophy unlocks

Kodama Leader

KODAMA LEADER
Collected all Kodama

In total, there are 150 Kodama to collect as you make your way through the game, this can be done on any difficulty, however, I recommend Dream of the Samurai to have an easier time of it.
All you need to do to collect a Kodama is first, ensure you are not in a fight anywhere near the Kodama as the Kodama will hide in its hat, once the battle is over, you can then collect the Kodama. Secondly, don’t attack the Kodama as they, again, will hide in their hat and be unable to be collected for a few seconds
Hold CIRCLE when facing the Kodama to collect each one, please don’t confuse the Kodama with Sudama, the Sudama are purple and will not count towards the total amount of Kodama collected throughout the game
Here is a breakdown of how many Kodama you can collect through each mission. There is also a video below detailing each and every Kodama and their locations if you prefer a visual guide

SUDAMA SWAPPER
Exchanged gifts with a Sudama for the first time

A Sudama is the purple Kodama you can find as you make your way through Nioh 2.
The first opportunity you will get to find a Sudama is in the mission called The Search which unlocks after you complete the first mission in the game, The Village of Cursed Blossoms in the Awakening region
Once you find a Sudama, hold CIRCLE to greet the Sudama, then open your inventory, select any item and drop the item in front of the Sudama, it will then collect the item and drop you an item you can collect, once you have successfully exchanged gifts with a Sudama for the first time, your Trophy will unlock

SOUL SEARCHER
Obtained all Soul Cores

This can be a lengthy trophy to go for and will probably be one of the last you unlock in Nioh 2
In total, there are 51 soul cores to obtain, most of which you’ll collect through normal gameplay, however, there are a few you’ll need to go out of your way for
In order to increase the drop rate of the soul cores, you will need to collect all of the Kodama in a given region (see Kodama Leader trophy for more information) then select the option Receive Kodama Blessing from the shrine menu, then choose Yamabushi Blessing
For me, I kept at least one of each type of soul core so you can monitor which ones you have and which ones are still needed, either copy the list below or print it off and cross them off as you go if it makes things easier
Please note, although you may have collected a soul core, you do need to successfully return it to a shrine or complete the mission to have it count towards this trophy, if you die and are unsuccessful in retrieving your grave before you die again, you will need to reacquire the soul core
To view which soul cores you have, you can go to the shrine menu, then select Manage Soul Cores, you can filter how this are displayed by pressing R3, however, for the purpose of this list, I’m going to filter them by type rather than anything else as every other filter is subjective according to the soul cores level

  2. Enki
  3. Yoki
  4. Gozuki

  10. Enenra
  11. Nure-Onna
  12. Aberrant Soldier

Fuse It or Lose It
Bronze Image

FUSE IT OR LOSE IT
Fused any Soul Core until it reached rank 9

As you play through the game you will naturally pick up soul cores from the various yokai, in order to fuse a soul core to level 9 you need 5 of the same type of soul core. So for example if you have 4 Gozuki soul cores and 1 Mezuki soul core, you can only fuse the 4 Gozuki soul cores together. Ensure you have 5 of the same type of soul core to get to rank 9
In order to fuse a soul core, you need to be at a shrine, select soul fusion from the manage soul cores section, then simply select 1 of the 5 and fuse it, you will see the rank of the soul core increase, simply repeat these steps, ensuring the rank souls core is in the top slot so you can get the maximum soul core level faster.
Once the soul core is rank 9, your Trophy will unlock

Seasoned Traveler

SEASONED TRAVELER
Discovered 10 hidden items on the map

A nice, easy trophy to unlock, once you’re on the map screen (not in a mission) hover your cursor around the map, every so often, the cursor turns red, when this happens, press CROSS, to unlock a hidden location, you can’t do anything with these locations, there’s no mission or reward, however, they do give you some background lore/information. Simply find 10 of these hidden locations across any of the 7 main game regions to unlock your Trophy

Let There Be Light

LET THERE BE LIGHT
Dispelled every instance of the Dark Realm in the main missions

In total, there are 47 dark realms across the entire game, you’ll know when you’re in the dark realm as the game takes on a black and white colour pallete with minimal colour and you’ll be fighting some serious power as all yokai grow in strength in the dark realm, fortunately, your yokai abilities & yokai shift  are a lot more powerful than normal in the dark realm.
All you need to do to dispel the dark realm is kill the most powerful enemy in any given instance of the dark realm, once they’re down, every other enemy in the dark realm will be stunned for a few seconds.
You can see which missions you have dispelled the dark realm in by pressing R1 on the mission selection screen
Here’s a breakdown of every level and how many instances of the dark realm they have

  • The Village of Cursed Blossoms ~ 1 dark realm

GRAZER ERASER
Defeated Mezuki and Gozuki in the same mission

There are several opportunities to get this done as you make your way through Nioh 2.
The first level will be your best bet if you’re looking at getting this done sooner rather than later.
You’ll see Gozuki roaming around in the first clearing you come to, use fire, lightning and Burst Counters to make short work of Gozuki, if this bovine beast is to strong, go and level up a few times and come back to the fight
Mezuki is the first levels’ boss, so you’ll have to take it down eventually if you want to proceed through the game, simply deal with the pair of them in the same level to unlock this Trophy

Dungball Roller
Bronze Image

DUNGBALL ROLLER
Become Ryunojo the Dung Lover’s best friend

First up, you need to collect 30 dungballs, you can find these throughout the game, but they drop primarily from Tesso (farting rats) you can also find several dungballs in the mission, Bird in a Cage on the corpses around the level, it’s also in this mission you will find Ryunojo
To become his best friend, you need to collect 30 dungballs and then hand them over, to avoid any potential issues with this trophy, ensure you hand over all 30 in one go
Noble dungballs, count as 2 dungballs, but they are also a much rarer item
To find Ryunojo, continue through the mission until you get to the second shrine, then proceed through and take a left  into a cave system go to the end of the cave and make your way up the ladder, Ryunojo, is on the ledge you’ll come to
Give him 30 dungballs to unlock your Trophy

HIDDEN HOPES
Encountered all the Usura-Hicho in “The Frenzied Blaze”

There are 3 Usura-Hicho, which are groups of Butterflies with a white-blue glow to them in The Frenzied Blaze, which is a main mission in the Dream region
All you need to do is go up to the Usura-Hicho and interact with them in to “encounter” them
The Usura-Hicho locations are as follows

  • The first Usura-Hicho is located just after the first dark realm area, go as far  left as you can and stick to the left wall, at the end of the area after you fight the rokurokubi, look for the white wall to find your first Usura-Hicho
  • The second Usura-Hicho is found just after the second shrine, continue straight rather than taking a left to continue with the mission, just behind the open gate, will be your second Usura-Hicho
  • Your third and final Usura-Hicho is in the final dark realm area just before you go through to fight Kasha, go to the shrine in this area, turn around, take a left, then a right to find your final Usura-Hicho

Once you have successfully “encountered” all 3 Usura-Hicho, your Trophy will unlock

CLEAN SWEEP
Destroyed every Amrita shard in “The High-spirited Demon”

The High-spirited Demon is a main mission in the Twilight region, in total, there are 6 Armita shards you need to destroy to unlock this trophy. These shards are massive and emit an orange nova type attack that can damage you quite heavily if you get to close to them, wait for the nova to release then get in there and destroy the Amrita shard before the nova goes off again
The locations for all 6 Amrita shards are as follows

  • First Amrita shard ~ Make your way down the ramps at the start of the mission, proceed up and to the right, kick down the tree trunk to make a bridge, go over this bridge to find your first Amrita shard
  • Second Amrita shard ~ Drop down from the first shards’ location and proceed left, go up through the small building, take out the Kamataichi mini-boss here, at the end of the arena will be your second Amrita shard
  • Third Amrita shard ~ Proceed forward from your second shards’ location, cross the broken tree truck bridge to find yourself in the dark realm, inside the area will be your third Armita shard
  • Fourth Amrita shard ~ Continue through the mission until you need to take out the Megatsu Warrior and obtain the key to get through the small wooden door, carry on down this crevice to end up on top of a building, on the roof of this building is a small hole, drop down through here to find your fourth shard
  • Fifth Amrita shard ~ Carry on through the level from the fourth Amrita shards’ location, either run past or defeat all of the enemies you come across, your fifth shard is in the middle of a courtyard where a Mezuki is patrolling, just before you go up the ramps to face the boss
  • Sixth Amrita Shard ~ If we start off from where the fifth Amrita shard was, make your way up the ramps, dealing with every enemy as you go, once you have gone up 3 of the 4 ramps, the last one will see a Megatsu Warrior send a boulder down to you, this boulder will smash a portion of wall, make your way through the now broken wall to find your sixth and final Amrita shard

Once you have destroyed all 6 Amrita shards, your Trophy will then unlock

Devout Believer

DEVOUT BELIEVER
Defeated the boss of “The Viper’s Sanctum” without breaking the statue of Shirohami

Definitely one to leave until much later in the game, the Shirohami statues are at the lowest part of this mission, just before you go into fight Yatsu-No-Kami.
The Shirohami statues look like snake statues with a green aura around them, every time you destroy one, it will lower the poison water in the level, thus making the boss fight a lot easier.
For this trophy, you need to not hit any of the 3 Shirohami statues, fighting Yatsu-No-Kami with the maximum amount of poison in the arena.
Come back much later in the game to have an easier time of this. As soon as Yatsu-No-Kami has been defeated without you having hit a Shirohami statue, your Trophy will then unlock
