God Of War Ragnarök Midgard Legendary Chest Locations

Here is the God Of War Ragnarök Midgard Legendary Chest locations guide where we will help you find all 8 Legendary Chests throughout the realm.

Legendary Chests are well worth your while to seek out and loot as they can contain anything from upgraded handles for a weapon to incredibly powerful Runic attacks making your battles a lot more manageable as you delve in to the more difficult sections of God Of War Ragnarök.

You can either wait until you have finished the story and collect the Chests or follow along below where we will help you collect every Legendary Chest in Midgard as you progress through the game with the last Legendary Chests being accessible once Kratos and Brok visit The Forge later in the game where Kratos will receive Draupnir.

In the World overview there are 7 Legendary Chests listed, however, there are actually 8 to find as you can find one as Atreus whilst progressing through the story.

The 8 Legendary Chests, how to open them and their rewards are as follows:

Legendary Chest 1

Midgard, Lake Of Nine, Shores Of Nine.

After the cutscene with Freya, you will have a wall of thorns behind you and a gold chain in front of you.

Climb the gold chain to the upper level.

Go around to the left up the small slope to be able to loot the Legendary Chest which contains the Sonic Aftershock accessory for Atreus.

Legendary Chest 2

Midgard, Lake of Nine, Raider Hideout.

Head to the far East section of the Lake of Nine to find the Raider Hideout which is in a cavern built into the mountain.

Clear out the Raider Hideout then jump up to the top right corner where you can loot the Legendary Chest which contains the Tartarus Rage Heavy Runic Attack for the Blades of Chaos.

Legendary Chest 3

Midgard, Lake of Nine, Raider Stronghold.

In the centre of the Lake of Nine is Tyr’s Temple which has a Raider problem underneath it you can eradicate on the North side of the Lake.

Clear out the Raider Stronghold underneath Tyr’s Temple where you can go through to the back area and down the stairs in order to find and loot the Legendary Chest which contains the Cyclone of Chaos Light Runic Attack for the Blades of Chaos.

Clear out the Raider Stronghold where you can then go through to the back area and down the stairs to find and loot the Legendary Chest which contains the Cyclone of Chaos Light Runic Attack for the Blades of Chaos.

Legendary Chest 4

Midgard, Lake of Nine, The Lost Treasury.

The Lost Treasury can be found in the Southern section of the Lake of Nine down a slope next to Tyr’s Temple.

Head down to the location then deal with the enemies who ambush you with the Blades as they have ice shields rendering the Axe all but useless against them.

Look at the right side of Tyr’s shield where you can grapple it and throw it to the right allowing you to mantle up to the top section.

Aim at the explosive pot then have Freya loose an arrow which will not only clear the rubble but also drop a pillar you will need later on so leave it for now.

Follow the path around taking care of the Wisps then drop down to the start agin using the drop down point over to the left.

Use the grapple point on the shield and send it to the left where you can then climb back up to where you previously dropped the pillar.

Grapple the pillar and send it to the left where it will hang off the edge then head back down to the ground below.

Throw the shield over to the right where it will then get caught on the pillar allowing you to gain access to the gate which now needs opening.

Use the wheel in front of the gate to open the bars, then, whilst still holding the wheel, aim at the gate mechanism on the right, have Freya shoot a Runic Arrow at it then throw the Axe at the arrow to freeze the mechanism in place.

Repeat these steps for the gate mechanism on the left then quickly sprint the gate before the frozen mechanisms break free. If you aren’t quick enough then retry as many times as you need to.

Once inside the room you will be trapped so turn around and throw the Axe at the blue disc which will destroy the gate mechanism allowing you to exit.

Just ensure you loot the Legendary Chest beforehand which contains the Sigil Punishment Accessory.

Legendary Chest 5

Midgard, Lake of Nine, The Derelict Outpost.

You can access the Derelict Outpost in the South West part of the Lake found at the end of a ravine and accessed by going around the back wall to the left and climbing up the golden chain.

Follow the path around jumping across the gap, throw the Axe at the right side disc of the crane, jump across, deal with the Wisp ambush then hit the right side disc of the crane, jump across the gap, go through the archway on the left then pull the golden chain up on the ledge down to raise the crane.

Jump across the gap, mantle up to the left, defeat the Hel-Raiders who ambush you, jump across to the left then jump across another gap again dealing with the enemies.

Continue around smashing through the icicles then drop down to the right and pull the chain to lower the crane, hit the cranes right disc to swing the crane around the bottom of the cliff and raise the crane back up to its original height.

Head back up, grapple across then follow the path to upper platform and look over to the back of the area where you will find the Legendary Chest which contains the Ivaldi’s Anvil Heavy Runic Attack for the Leviathan Axe.

Legendary Chest 6

Midgard, Lake of Nine, Shores of Nine, The Oarsmen.

The Oarsmen is a tough area found in the Shores of Nine area in the Northern part of the Lake of Nine which is accessed by jumping over the small wooden wall and lifting the rock which is in your way then look right to see a set of vines you can burn with the Blades of Chaos allowing you to jump the gate and descend the stairs into the Oarsmen dungeon.

Clear the ambush then climb up the wall on the right side of the back wall where you will have a tough fight against a Centaur as well as a few ice shielded enemies.

Once all the enemies are down climb up another gold chain which is also on the right side against the back wall, drop down to the lower level and pull the large chain which will reveal a staircase on the right side of the area.

Proceed down the stairs, take out the Wisp ambush then look over to the right where you can find and loot the Legendary Chest which contains the Jewel of Yggdrasil Amulet Accessory.

Legendary Chest 7

Midgard, Lake of Nine, Well of Urd.

You will need to progress the story far enough in the Lake of Nine to where you are looking for the Norns in the first 2 locations then on your way to the 3rd location you can acquire this Legendary Chest.

Smash through ice blockage with your Axe (story progression) and clear the ambush where you can then start climbing up and around the cliff.

Just before you get to the top of the cliff you can go left along the cliff face to a ledge overlooking the area you just came from.

Drop off the side of the ledge then smash through the wall where you will be in the room with the Legendary Chest which once looted contains the Rönd of Purification Shield Attachment.

Legendary Chest 8

Midgard, Lake of Nine.

From the Mystic Gateway next to Sindri’s Shop in the North of the Lake of Nine, go over to the right and throw the Draupnir Spear into the rock and destroy it which will initiate a boss fight against a powerful Frost Phantom.

The Frost Phantom is weak to wind so make good use of the Draupnir Spears attacks then once you have inflicted enough damage the Phantom will disappear for a short time giving you the opportunity to use ranged attacks on each of the 4 runes around the area.

Keep taking down the Frost Phantom and destroying the Runes until you can finish the boss off allowing you to go back to the area behind the rock which spawned the boss to loot the Legendary Chest which contains the Lion’s Roar Sauroter Spear Handles for the Draupnir Spear.

That’s how to acquire all 8 Legendary Chests throughout Midgard.
