Welcome to the Dakar Desert Rally trophy guide.
Dakar Desert Rally is only for the hardcore amongst you if you’re looking at even getting close to the .
Start the game and learn how the vehicles handle… apologies…. try to handle and work your way through the events in Sport mode which are a serious challenge.
Then, you get to do Professional mode which has no waypoints, markers or anything that’s visible on track meaning you have to rely on the roadbook and your co-driver who is more delayed than dial up broadband.
You will need to learn the mechanics and spend a lot of time in Sport mode memorising the stages so you know where to go rather than trying to find where to go as the game is very open.
You can easily go for a good 20 seconds in the wrong direction just to the be told you’re going the wrong way which makes things somewhat challenging.
You can hold 
to get back on circuit but then you have nearly 0 chance of achieving first place.
The A.I. as well are overly aggressive and will easily sacrifice 2 of its racers to smash into you, usually when there are a series of rocks just to your side ruining your chances of a first place finish.
This is definitely a game for the hardcore amongst you if you have a hope of getting close to the platinum.

Going Places
Finish your first stage and get qualified.
Simply complete any event finishing in the top 8 after the tutorial stage to earn your trophy .
First of many
Finish a stage in first place.
You will more than likely get this as you progress through the game. If not load up stage 1 of any location then learn the course, play on Sport difficulty and you’ll eventually take the win with practice.
Careful
Finish a stage in 1st place without crashing.
This can be a tricky one given the nature of the AI treating the game more like a Destruction Derby than a Dakar Rally. Minor scuffs are fine but in this game they’re very rarely minor so I would recommend driving consistently on Sport difficulty to have an easier time in a high powered vehicle.
Getting out in front early will of course help your chances then maintain the lead without crashing into anything along the way.
Choose a fairly simple course such as Duba found in the Red Sea Rally as it’s such a short circuit which unlocks at level 2 to have an easier time of it then with consistency and practice you will take the win without crashing unlocking your trophy in the process.
Clean driving
Complete an event without crashing.
An event comprises of anywhere between 2 and 8 stages and to complete an event without crashing means exactly that, you need to complete every stage in an event without crashing once which includes:
- No crashing into the A.I.
- Not having the A.I. crash into you.
- Do not crash into any scenery (rocks, trees, deep water etc.).
- No crash landing after high jumps (over dunes, off cliffs for example).
- No replaying from the previous waypoint.
Which makes this a challenge, what will make things easier, however, is the fact you only need to complete as opposed to win an event without crashing meaning you need to come in at 8th or higher for each stage.
A good event to go for this trophy in would be Desert Wings Rally as it has 3 stages which aren’t overly complicated once you know where you’re going.
Staying away from the A.I. is essential especially given their aggressive nature and as long as you don’t spin out which usually results in a nasty A.I. T-bone you will, with practice be able to complete the event with no crashing where, once complete, will unlock your trophy.
RED SEA Winner
Finish 1st in every stage in RED SEA RALLY.
The Red Sea Rally is the first Career tournament you will be entered in to and unlocks at level 2, however, don’t expect to be finishing in first place with your starting vehicle.
Complete the tournament to move through the game then come back at a later date with a much more powerful vehicle where you will be able to take the win a lot easier.
The Red Sea Rally is made up of 4 stages which are:
- Duba, Saudi Arabia, 19.73 K.M. (95% Sand, 1% Soil, 4% Dunes).
- Abu Salama, Saudi Arabia, 46.91 K.M. (99% Sand, 1% Soil).

How Legends are born
Finish a stage in Simulation Game Mode.
Simulation is the hardest difficulty in the game and unlocks at level 25 so you will have a fair few hours invested in the game which you should use to learn the stages / mechanics of the game to have an easier time of it.
Finish any event in Simulation mode to unlock your trophy.
Legendary
Finish a stage in first place in Simulation Game Mode.

Hat Trick
Win three consecutive stages
Whilst winning stages isn’t an overly convoluted task, winning 3 in a row can be especially given the aggressive nature of the A.I.
Ensure you don’t crash too hard as time penalties will easier knock you down into 2nd or 3rd even if you cross the line in 1st place.
You can win the same 3 stages as long as you do them back to back such as Duba in the Red Sea Rally which is a short circuit that is only 19.73 K.M. in length and is very simple to get through compared to some of the latter circuits.
Achieve first place in 3 consecutive stages to earn your trophy.
We all stand together
Drive for 6000 Km with a SxS.
I recommend starting the game with any vehicle you like the look of then once you have unlocked the 6,000 K.M. trophy for that particular type of vehicle, getting yourself to the Garage then purchasing any vehicle you can afford from a different class then working your way through the game until you have that trophy unlocked then switching again.
You will, along the way, get a feel for each type of vehicle as they all have their strengths and weaknesses except for Quads in my opinion which are the weakest vehicle class in the game, they’re not fast and they’re not tough. They’re filler and not much more so get that one out of the way sooner rather than later or leave it until last.
You can see how long you have spent in a particular vehicle by going main menu> Rankings> Global Statistics which whilst you won’t be able to see an individual vehicle class breakdown for distance you can see the amount of time you have driven a vehicle class for so if you take it as an average of 150km/h.
Each hour will add between 100 – 200 K.M. depending on your performance and skill at maintaining high speed through the events so on average it will take you around 8-12 hours for each vehicle class on average.
These numbers are only rough guide based on average performances, you might do a lot better or take a good deal longer depending on how you get on with the game.
Drive 6,000 K.M. in each of the 5 vehicle classes to earn your respective trophies.
First Bike
Get your first Bike.
Once you have won a few events you will have a fairly healthy bank balance. Go to Garage> Bikes and purchase any bike available. The cheapest will be fine for this trophy to unlock.
First Car
Get your first Car.
This will more than likely be your first trophy in the game. Simply go to Garage> Cars> then purchase any car you have the credits for to unlock your trophy.
First Quad
Get your first Quad.
Quads aren’t very useful in this game unfortunately so go to Garage> Quads then purchase the cheapest one available later in the game when you have plenty of spare DP to spare to unlock your trophy.
First Truck
Get your first Truck.
Trucks are very useful for ramming other vehicles out of the way as long as you can catch up to them.
If you didn’t choose a truck as your starting vehicle then win a few events, bank some DP then buy a truck by going Garage> Trucks and buy whichever truck you like the look of or the cheapest to unlock your trophy.
First SxS
Get your first SxS.
If you didn’t buy an SxS at the start of the game then build up some DP then go to Garage> SxS and purchase any of the available vehicles on offer, the cheapest will be fine for to unlock this trophy.
V-TEC’ed
Get all Honda Bikes in the game.
Honda have a good amount of bikes in the game with a total of 11 which can be purchased with Dakar Points that you earn by winning / completing events and can be found by going from the main menu> Career> New Vehicle / Buy Vehicle> Bikes> then purchase the following Honda bikes:

Finish Xtreme, Desert Wings and Train Odyssey Events in First Place (Sport and Professional)
You will need to win the Xtreme Rally which unlocks at level 5, the Desert Wings Rally which unlocks at level 3 and the Train Odyssey Rally which unlocks at level 4 on both Sport and Professional difficulties.
Sport mode isn’t that bad with practice. Professional, however has no waypoints, markers or anything except a roadbook and a co-driver who seems to be late on the calls more often than not.
Take the time to learn the courses on Sport mode so you will know the route for Professional then once you have won all 3 events your trophy will unlock.
Stuntman
Jump for more than 3 seconds in any bike
You will more than likely get this as you’re working through Born to be Wild .
If not, then load up a track with a heavy percentage of dunes such as Al Disah found in the Al Ula 2020 event then ensure you hit the higher dunes at max speed where you will be able to make it 3 seconds especially if you aim for the lower section of an adjacent dune.
It might take some practice but you’ll get there then once you have jumped for 3 seconds or more your trophy will unlock.
Deja Vu
Drift for more than 5 seconds with any vehicle
The 2 easiest classes to drift are Cars and SxS’s, with the latter being the easiest.
Get some speed up then take any corner / flat area at high speed whilst tapping , applying gentle opposite lock (if turning right steer left once the back end slides out and vice versa) to initiate a drift.
Hold the drift for at least 5 seconds by feathering the throttle to earn your trophy.
Desert Wings

You will easily earn this whilst working towards DAKAR MASTER .
Desert Autobahn
Reach 200km/h in any vehicle while driving on the sand.
Load up the first stage in the Red Sea Rally: Duba using any powerful car (I used the FORD Raptor RS Cross Country) then accelerate to maximum speed, at the end of the first straight will be a dip leading down to the road on the left.
Ensure you hit the dip level where you will go over 200 km/h unlocking your trophy.
Forever Speedy
Finish first in all 2020 events playing as Paulo Gonçalves (Sport, Professional, and Simulation)
You will need to finish first across every 2020 event as Paulo Gonçalves who is a biker across all 3 difficulties, Sport, Professional and Simulation which doesn’t unlock until you reach level 25 so yo will have a lot of work today before you can get there.
Paulo Gonçalves has one vehicle in the game which can be found by going main menu> Career> New Vehicle> Buy Vehicle> Bikes> Dakar 20> Hero 450 RR 8 Paulo Gonçalves which costs 892 D.P.
The problem with the bike is, firstly, it’s a bike so you will need to drive carefully avoiding the A.I. especially if they’re in trucks / cars / SxS’s as one hit and you’re off, the bike isn’t very powerful either at a poultry 50 hp.
You will need to learn all of the shortcuts and utilise your driving skills to the maximum just to get through the first 2 difficulties. Simulation is a completely different beast and for me, the only way I got close to first place is to hope the A.I. crash allowing you to take the lead which is then very hard to maintain.
As long as you don’t need any repairs you will hopefully outclass the A.I. as thankfully, repair time penalties apply to them so this comes down to that worst combination of skill and luck to be achievable.
The 2020 events you need to complete are:
- Al Wajh 2020 which has 6 stages.
- NEOM 2020 which has 6 stages.
- Al Ula 2020 which has 6 stages.
Once you have completed all 18 2020 events whilst driving as Paulo Gonçalves you will then earn your trophy.
The Navigator
Complete an entire simulation event without ever missing a waypoint.
Thankfully this trophy is only a complete as opposed to a win so get up to level 25 where Simulation mode then unlocks and get a high powered vehicle and choose an easier event such as Red Sea Rally.
Ensure you choose Simulation mode and make sure you hit every way point along the way to the finish aiming for a minimum finish of 1st to earn your trophy.
Dakar Competitor
Finish an event in Professional Game Mode.

Professional Winner
Finish all stages in 1st place in Professional Game Mode.
You will more than likely start the game in Sport mode which is recommended then once you’re ready to tackle Professional you will have a very different game to play.
There are no waypoints, no markers meaning you have to rely on your navigator’s calls which are, with the greatest will in the world, late and he has no concept of distance.
You could hear “stay left 2 K.M., turn right” where you would expect to be there in around 10-15 seconds but you will already be on the turn which then sees you either off the track or having to do a handbrake turn / drift to try and stay on the course you can’t see.
I highly recommend learning the courses in Sport mode so you will have an easier time of it on Professional. You do also get a roadbook which is a lot more useful than the navigator, I personally found it easier muting the sound on my game then using the roadbook in the bottom right but of course it’s personal preference.
Work your way through every event achieving first place throughout to earn your trophy.
Simulation Winner
Finish all stages in 1st place in Simulation Game Mode.
Simulation is the hardest game mode and you will need some serious skill in order to be able to finish, let alone finish first. Due to this I recommend leaving this until last as you will then have every vehicle in the game as well as a lot of skill / time built up to learn the mechanics, courses and playstyle.
The AI in particular are very happy to sacrifice every vehicle they have in order to hold you up literally ramming you into rocks / trees/ other vehicles as often as they can.
The AI also seem to be able to catch you up very quickly if you manager to get a lead on them which can feel unfair at times. There’s a reason you need to be at least level 25 before you can even access simulation mode.
This will more than likely be the platinum breaker of the game as you will need to learn every course as well as not going over 170km/h meaning you have to race with the utmost precision.
Once you have finished every stage in first place in simulation mode, your trophy will unlock.
Dakar Desert Rally Hub
I wonder about some of the informations on this guide. My Cars to buy cost at least 5x to 10x the price as written in the guide. On what version is this guide written.
For example all the Toyota Hilux cost ~200k (10-15k each) on version 1.07 and i know it did same on version 1.04.
